3d- Learning Maya animations

Journal Entry: Tue Mar 11, 2008, 12:42 AM
Well up to this point I thought as an artist I could avoid moving into the 3d realm and stick with 2d; which I thought at the time, much more fun. Now, I think of all the different possibilities that are available in 3d and wonder why I didn't go for it earlier. Thus, I'm starting to learn it on my own. Going back to school to learn a skill seems like a waste of time at the moment. At this point, going back for another bachelor's degree is not needed I say.

The program is hellishly complex and in depth (Maya) and 3d gains healthy respect from me to all its artists.

yeah, i would have to agree that 3d modeling is an amazing talent... it would be nice if most 3d modelers had more practical knowledge which comes along with 2d understanding, as many of the visual aspects carry over. So not all is lost. There are plenty self taught modelers out there. And for anyone out there - if school first time around didnt help you get a job, then 2nd time around would probably serve the same answer. I say go back to school once you are successful, or just learn to teach yourself - afterall - most learning comes from a persons desire and will to know more anyways. ~peace
